Senior Legal Counsel – Construction Law & Projects, St1 Biokraft (Stockholm)
A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1, HitecVision, and Aneo, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biogas and biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biogas player in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the whole value chain — from feedstock sourcing to production, distribution and end-customer sales — with a strong emphasis on industrial applications.
To enable this growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biogas and biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.
Senior Legal Counsel – Construction Law & Projects, St1 Biokraft (Stockholm)
Join our Legal team to lead legal support for major construction and expansion projects as we scale — enabling fast, business-driven decisions that balance risk and reward.
St1 Biokraft is expanding its Legal team and is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead legal support for our major greenfield and brownfield projects.
Are you an experienced lawyer with a strong background in construction projects and industrial supply/delivery agreements? Do you want a role where you work closely with the business and play a key role in enabling large-scale expansion in renewable energy?
About the role
In this role, you will join a committed and highly competent Legal team supporting the entire St1 Biokraft group. You will report to the Head of Legal and work closely with stakeholders across Growth, Project Execution, Procurement, Operations and Finance.
Your mission is clear: to take a lead role in project and construction-related legal matters — from early structuring and negotiations to execution — and to help build scalable “ways of working” that enable delivery in a fast-growing industrial company. You are senior enough to run matters independently, and you know when a pragmatic approach is the right call — and when a topic requires deeper work and attention to detail.
What you will do
You will provide end-to-end legal support to major expansion projects and the project organisation, including:
- -Project and construction contracting: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating project agreements and related contracts (e.g., construction contracts, real estate and infrastructure agreements), supporting both negotiation and execution phases.
- -Industrial supply & delivery agreements: Negotiating supplier and delivery frameworks relevant to industrial projects (where applicable).
- -Execution support: Supporting the business with contract interpretation, change management and risk handling during project execution (including claims/dispute prevention as needed).
- -Standardisation & efficiency: Establishing/refining templates, playbooks and standard ways of working across expansion projects to drive efficiency and consistency.
- -Broader exposure (secondary): As part of a growing company, you may also support other commercial matters that arise (e.g., certain sourcing/procurement topics and occasional M&A-related legal work), depending on business needs and your experience.
Lo Location: Stockholm (WTC) preferred; Malmö possible for suitable candidates. Hybrid work offered.
What you bring
To thrive in this role, you are driven, independent and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment close to operations and decision-makers.
- -Education: LL.M. / Swedish law degree
- -Construction law experience: Proven experience drafting and negotiating Swedish construction contracts such as ABT 06 and AB 04 (and related market practice).
- -Industrial agreements (plus): Experience with ABA 99 and/or Orgalime is a strong advantage (and familiarity with international contracting is a plus).
- -Business mindset: You align legal advice with the company’s broader business goals and provide clear recommendations that move matters forward.
- - Communication & language: As many matters are governed by Swedish law and handled with Swedish counterparts, strong knowledge of Swedish legislation and legal practice, and fluency in Swedish are required. English is required.
- -Having experience in biogas, energy, oil and gas, water treatment, process or chemical industries, or pulp and paper is considered an advantage.

At St1 Biokraft, we like to say that we are one team with one dream, working towards one result. Our values are important to us, and in this role, you will have plenty of opportunities to live them in practice:
- -Be Collaborative by working across sites, functions, and countries, supporting colleagues, and sharing knowledge so we succeed together.
- - Be Open by being curious, transparent, and eager to learn, embracing change, and engaging in honest, constructive dialogue when things do not go as planned.
- - Be Commercial by thinking and acting like an entrepreneur: enabling fast, fact-based decisions that balance risk and reward and drive sustainable growth.
- -Be the Expert by taking ownership of your scope, providing sound legal advice with integrity, working closely with operations and continuously building your capabilities to deliver high-quality.

Why join St1 Biokraft?
Because this is where construction law meets real business impact. You will work on large-scale expansion projects that directly enable the growth of an integrated biogas business — with significant investment levels, complex stakeholder landscapes and real operational consequences. You will be close to decision-making, help shape contract strategy and project ways of working, and see the results of your work in projects delivered — safely, efficiently and on commercially sound terms.
