Following FAM AB’s acquisition of Sandvik Process Systems (SPS) from Sandvik AB, SPS is, as of 1 December 2017, an independent company in FAM AB’s portfolio of holdings. Sandvik Process Systems will after a brand transition period change name and brand to IPCO.

Sandvik Process Systems AB is looking for a

LEGAL COUNSEL

To be placed in Sandviken or Stockholm

Key Performance Areas

In this role, the Legal Counsel shall be responsible for managing legal support and risk management on behalf of Sandvik Process Systems globally, reporting directly to the SPS Vice President Holding. As part of this responsibility, you will deliver legal advice, draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, and implement proper policies and procedures for legal risk management, aligned with the global business Policies and Procedures including intellectual property protection.

The Legal Counsel will play an important part in managing the legal exposure as well as the intellectual property protection of the group with an emphasis on:

  • Draft material Sales and Purchase Agreements together with sales & purchasing operations based on Standard Contractual Documents
  • Manage contractual disputes and resolutions
  • Manage external counsel
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Define the groups IP strategy and supports the product center’s IP strategy development
  • Drive process improvements to protect and enforce IP rights for the company as well as securing freedom to operate

Responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding of the key strategic and commercial drivers for the Sales and Legal issues affecting the business
  • To gain the confidence and respect of management and provide pragmatic commercially focused advice with integrity and insight
  • To ensure regular communication on opportunities, risks and relevant regulatory and compliance issues across the organization by developing effective internal and external relationships within the business organization
  • To ensure both quality and effectiveness of services provided by external legal counsel
  • To provide an optimal balance of internal and external resources which consistently delivers a superior result, recognized by the business as making a direct contribution to the success of their operations
  • To communicate effectively with the business leaders and corporate management throughout Sandvik Process Systems in a manner that engenders trust and confidence

Your profile

7+ years’ commercial contracts and corporate law experience gained within a top tier law firm and/or an in-house legal function of a multinational company

Experience in the manufacturing sector will be considered favorably along with dispute resolution experience, although candidates from other relevant industries and practice areas will be considered

A proven track record of successfully advising a global corporation, at both mid and senior levels, on a wide range of corporate and commercial legal issues

Proven delivery of pragmatic solutions to legal matters and problems

Law Degree from a first-tier institution

Excellent communication skill in English, both oral and written

This role will be based in Sweden at either Sandviken or Stockholm, and reports to the Vice President of Holding.
